About the Role
The Mechanical Global Commodity Manager will lead the critical sourcing initiatives. The Commodity Manager is responsible for supplier development and executing a sourcing strategy related to the respective commodity areas under management.
What You Will Do
The Global Commodity Manager is responsible for owning the plastic/Metal commodity across the different brands. The person will work with different engineering teams as well as the strategic mechanical partners.
- Develop suitable supplier base with aligning business requirements with supplier capabilities, re visit the AVL annually with Engineer/SCM and QA team
- Work in collaboration with procurement team and other relevant teams, coordinate supplier involvement in new products, material readiness and designs to optimize quality and meet production schedule.
- Be responsible for communicating business requirements and priorities to category management and align procurement metrics, including translating category cost savings and negotiations.
- Conduct supplier financial risk assessments.
- To track, monitor and drive actions to ensure material cost targets are achieved during New Product Introduction (NPI) phases.
- Develop and implement Sourcing Strategies in conjunction with Development Engineering and Category Management.
- Collaborate successfully with key work partners and maintaining key relationships to meet all requirements
- Other administrative tasks.
- Manage commodity spending and review supplier performance annually (score card)
- Responsible for NPI readiness review with supplier and samples schedule follow up
- Support our ODM supplier initiatives including annual cost reductions, lead-time reductions, favorable payment terms, etc.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Academic/Professional Qualification: University graduate or above.
- Working experiences: 5-8 years or above experiences in engineering, production engineering or supplier quality control in electronics manufacturing; procurement e is required, and practical experience in procurement is a plus
- Expertise / Skills: strong mechanical engineering background
- Language skills: Fluent English both in writing (a must) and in oral. Japanese Speaking will be a plus.
