About the Role

This position will be important part of Electrical Engineering team to support development of various Harman Consumer Audio products, including but not limited to Portable Audio, Party Speakers, Home Smart Speakers, Soundbars, Headphones and others.


Your Team

This position will report to Senior Manager, Electrical Engineering.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and develop LED Lighting-related technical expertise within EE team.
  • Responsible for hardware design at system, PCBA, module, circuit, and component levels, based on design specifications to meet all product requirements.
  • Carry out feasibility study on new products requirements especially Lighting effect related requirements, establish and validate EE architecture/concept and create a realistic development plan.
  • Ensure product quality from ODM/OEMs meets Harman standard and requirements.
  • Comply with Harman documentation structure, standards and design rules during project execution.
  • Participate in technical studies and innovation projects to strengthen know-how and develop new technologies in EE team.
  • In day-to-day work, demonstrate and focus on competencies in the following aspects: Leadership, Change-Orientation, Judgement, Collaboration and Results-Driven.
  • Train and coach junior engineers to achieve high level of technical competence.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of working experience in design, development, and manufacturing of consumer electronic LED Lighting related products (e.g. Smart Lighting, Home Lighting, Decoration Lighting and so on).  This position will focus on LED Lighting related designs for Party speakers, Portable speakers and Home speakers.
  • Strong expertise in LED lighting solutions and qualification methods; familiar with LED component selection and development; familiar with LED control mechanisms; familiar with Lighting system designs including electrical, mechanical and optical components and structures.
  • Proficient in the use of Lighting-related test equipment (e.g. Integrated Sphere, LED luminance and color calibration setup, etc..). 
  • Experience in design optimization to meet Thermal, EMC, Safety and other regulatory standards related to audio industry.
  • Good communications; Strong teamwork spirit; Fluent reading and writing in English.
  • Strong passion to learn and develop.

What is Nice to Have

  • Know-how and experience in developing consumer audio products are highly preferred.  Knowledge in audio systems, SoC/MCU platforms, battery management, power circuits, wireless connectivity such as Bluetooth and WiFi would be very helpful.
  • Experience in using audio-related test equipment (e.g. Oscilloscope, Audio Precision, DC Loads etc..) would be very helpful.
  • Strong passion for design excellence, and also exploring new innovation ideas.
  • Hardware programming experience (CPLD/FPGA, VHDL/Verilog etc..)
  • Fluent listening and speaking in English.
