Description & Requirements

About the Role

The primary responsibility of this role is to define the assembly process and equipment to support the planning, development, and implementation of the display OCA, BLU and LCM assembly. This position is also responsible to develop and maintain assembly process standardization, in partnership with other development organizations in Asia, North America and Europe in order to minimize cost and maximize effective assembly process.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver efficient and effective Display OCA/BLU/LCM assembly process and stations to manufacturing team and support ED, DV sample build according to the plan. This will include, but not be limited to the activities as below.
  • Plan and Design Display OCA/BLU/LCM Assembly Process
  • Estimate display OCA/BLU/LCM assembly process and equipment costs during the Request for Quotation (RFQ) phase of new business
  • Work with Design Team to analyze new display designs and develop display assembly process
  • Based on the product design, determine the appropriate display OCA/BLU/LCM assembly process
  • Act as the main interface with assigned projects for all display assembly process related issues. Review all assemblies for manufacturability and interact with the design team to improve product design and reduce the cost of assembly
  • Execute assembly process realization
  • Work with suppliers to design and build the display OCA/BLU/LCM assembly line in a cost-effective manner and to ensure the schedule, cost and quality objectives are all met the project requirement
  • Use automation integration techniques to develop control system that ensure Poke Yoke and error proofing process at a cost-effective price
  • Conduct detailed display OCA/BLU/LCM assembly station programming using appropriate control language
  • Ensure that all display OCA/BLU/LCM assembly process correctly via pilot factory processes and verifications
  • Meet all projects requirements for prototype and design verification builds, ensuring that appropriate levels of display OCA/BLU/LCM assembly processes are available for each phase
  • Ensure that each display OCA/BLU/LCM assembly station is optimized prior to launch to minimize cycle time, minimize false failures, and maximize effective assembly process
  • Execute assembly line launch and delivery to manufacturing plant
  • Ensure a smooth display OCA/BLU/LCM assembly station installation at the manufacturing site
  • Ensure a thorough display OCA/BLU/LCM assembly process validation at the manufacturing site, including all setup and verification steps
  • Ensure a smooth handover to the manufacturing team, including full training and documentation
  • Monitor performance during launch for a minimum of 90 days in order to ensure that a capable process is handed over to production
  • Series production monitoring and continuous improvement
  • Recognize new requirements and work with production to successfully introduce new display OCA/BLU/LCM assembly process and station during serial production
  • Monitor and contribute to the improvement of Assembly Yields, Assembly Efficiency and overall assembly process performance
  • Display OCA/BLU/LCM Assembly process and station standardization
  • Provide feedback to design team on Design for Assembly (DFA and database)
  • Work closely with Product Design teams during product development in order to provide continuous feedback and help to deliver highly manufacturable products and thus enable high-quality cost-effective production assembly processes
  • Develop and integrate next generation assembly technologies
  • Analyze and evaluate technology trends, manufacturing needs and upcoming customer demands.  Based on this, ensure that the assembly technology roadmap is in place that will support future needs and take advantage of new technologies to ensure long-term sustainable efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Harman design and AME teams globally to develop the strategic direction and roadmap and execute on critical projects. Ensure that the strategy is set and aligned to the R&D activities and technology rollouts as well as manufacturing strategy and requirements
  • Facilitate knowledge training/transfer about all aspects of assembly process and station to AME process engineers and local plant engineers
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by his/her supervisor to support the company needs

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing/Industry/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from four-year university
  • Ten or more years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience to define new assembly solution for display OCA/BLU/LCM process
  • Experience to qualify assembly process and release assembly stations into production line
  • Advanced level on process developing related tools (Cpk Analysis, Gage R&R, DOE, PFMEA, MES, DFM, DFA)
  • Experience with gluing/screwing/robotic/vision system
  • Experience with Mechanical Design SW(AutoCAD/Creo), Electrical Control SW(PLC) and Programming Tools(C/C#/LabVIEW)
