About the Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Director of Platforms Engineering to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in audio technology development and a passion for creating high-quality audio experiences and will be responsible for defining the technical roadmap, developing innovative solutions, and collaborating with project teams to create audio software and hardware platforms.


Your Team

This role will be responsible for managing a highly technical team of Platforms Engineers focusing on innovative HW and SW solution development

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate across the company to guide the direction of crafting Audio HW and SW Technology Platform roadmap within Harman technical teams.
  • Work with internal teams to develop and improve functionality for HEA SW and HW platforms and be an innovator in product, price, and place aspects, challenge the status quo of traditional products.
  • Keep pace with up-to-date technology trends through publications, white papers, rapid prototyping, staying connected with experts, or hands-on-keyboard development and test, HEA platform team should have intimate knowledge of various technical stacks.
  • Work cross-functionally to guide products from conception to launch by connecting the technical and business worlds.
  • Architecting, designing, and implementing next-gen platform solutions.
  • Establishing organizational benchmarks and promoting best practices in platform architecture.
  • Utilizing an in-depth understanding of coding languages, establishing coding standards and participate in code reviews to ensure a high standard of code and technical quality.
  • Design and develop audio technologies for various platforms including desktop, mobile, and embedded systems, including but not limited to APIs and SDKs
  • Collaborate with project engineers to integrate audio software with hardware components.
  • Clear communication is the essence of leadership. As a technical leader, you will author requirements documents that project a desired future state. Then you will collaborate with engineering and program management to develop product roadmaps to deliver new features.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering, or a related field.
  • Overall 10+ years of engineering experience with 5+ years of technical management
  • Proven experience in audio software and hardware platform development.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, and/or Java.
  • Experience with real-time audio processing libraries and frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of digital signal processing (DSP) concepts and techniques.
  • Familiarity with audio codecs, streaming protocols, and audio file formats.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of audio hardware interfaces (e.g., I2S, SPDIF, USB, HDMI).
  • Experience with machine learning techniques applied to audio.

What is Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering, or a related field
  • Overall 15+ years of engineering experience with 10+ years of technical management
  • Demonstrated business acumen with ability to engage with partners, whether customers or vendors at strategic level
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
