About the Role
As a Principal Engineer, Product Compliance & Sustainability, for Consumer Audio will serve as the central point of expertise and coordination for all ESG-related activities within the Consumer Audio business unit. This role is critical in addressing the rapidly growing demand for environmental and social responsibility data from both external customers and internal corporate stakeholders. Acting as the face of Consumer Audio for sustainability matters, the Principal Engineer will ensure timely, accurate, and transparent responses to customer inquiries, including detailed questionnaires on carbon emissions, supply chain practices, and compliance with global sustainability standards. Furthermore, the candidate will support various ESG implementations for various B2B customers.
What You Will Do
Customer Sustainability Engagement
- Act as the primary point of contact for sustainability-related inquiries from major customers (e.g., Walmart, JB-HiFi, LEGO, Lenovo, HP/Poly).
- Manage and respond to detailed sustainability questionnaires and data requests.
Corporate ESG Liaison
- Coordinate with the Corporate ESG team to provide accurate data for CSRD, SB261, Ecovadis, CDP, RBA, and other reporting frameworks.
- Ensure alignment between Consumer Audio and corporate sustainability objectives.
Data Collection & Management
- Gather and validate sustainability data from ODMs and internal teams.
- Maintain organized records of sustainability metrics and compliance documentation.
Compliance & Standards
- Stay updated on global sustainability regulations and standards (e.g., GHG Protocol, CSRD).
- Ensure Consumer Audio meets all relevant compliance requirements.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Facilitate pre-alignment with internal stakeholders before external communication.
- Build strong relationships across teams to streamline sustainability initiatives.
Independent Execution
- Work autonomously to manage multiple sustainability projects and deadlines.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve sustainability processes.
What You Need to Be Successful
Required Technical Expertise
- Minimum 8 years of experience in ESG & Product Sustainability area. Strong knowledge of sustainability principles, greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, and life cycle assessment.
- Familiarity with global sustainability frameworks and regulations (CSRD, SB261, Ecovadis, CDP, RBA, GHG Protocol, CMRT).
- Ability to collect, validate, and interpret sustainability data from multiple sources, including ODMs and internal teams.
- Competence in sustainability reporting tools and platforms.
Managerial Competencies

- Strategic Thinking: Understand how sustainability impacts business strategy and customer relationships; translate regulatory requirements into actionable plans.

- Project Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple customer requests and reporting deadlines effectively.
- Change Management: Drive adoption of sustainability practices across teams and suppliers.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with global customers & internal teams.
- Skilled in building consensus and pre-alignment across diverse stakeholders.
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in customer-facing sustainability roles or ESG reporting.
- Familiarity with consumer electronics industry and supply chain processes.
- Experience in making PCF calculations using Simapro or equivalent system.
- Advanced excel or data analytics skills for sustainability metrics.

Dependent on the position offered, other forms of compensation are also available, such as bonuses or commission.
Pay is based on a wide range of factors, including, without limitation, skill set, experience, training, location, and business need.
