About the Role
The key responsibility of this role is to lead the supply chain management of purchased finished goods, subassemblies and electrical parts. As a leader, this role supervises multiple teams globally, specializing in strategic sourcing, materials management, distributor management, and procurement operations. This role is responsible for supplier relationship management of top 20 suppliers globally, and is responsible for managing ~150M annual direct material spend. This leader is a strategic advisor of Product Management and collaborates extensively with PMO, R&D, Quality, Finance, Manufacturing, Legal and other organizations.
What You Will Do
- Systems Procurement
- Lead strategy development and proper balancing of outsourced vs in-house produced systems
- Lead category strategy development for key audio, lighting and video controls categories
- Manage strategic sourcing, supplier selection, contracting and supplier lifecycle management of systems procurement suppliers
- Lead NPI project procurement from early concept engagement to business award and mass production
- Manage outsourced manufacturing / contract manufacturing partners globally. Ensure cost and supply chain transparency, capacity, quality and deliveries meet Harman objectives
- Manage joint design partners and OEMs in developing Harman products. Ensure design and development deliverables are properly documented, and executed according to expectations on time, quality and delivery. Negotiate NREs and capital expenses paid by Harman for the JDM projects.
- Electronics Procurement
- Lead strategy development and proper balancing of outsourced vs in-house produced electrical subassemblies (PCBAs, modules, crossovers).
- Lead category strategy and supplier strategy development and execution for the PCBA and electrical subassembly categories
- Lead strategic procurement of electrical components (semiconductors, passives, electromechanical parts) in support of in-house and outsourced PCBA manufacturing.
- Own supplier relationship with major OEMs and key distributors
- Manage external component and subassembly spend and deliver cost savings
- Systems and Electronics Supply Chain Management
- Create and operate supply models for electrical components that optimize cost, inventories, lead times, duty exposure while ensuring supply continuity
- Manage and optimize Harman consigned inventory at external suppliers. Minimize Harman liability and maximize component inventory turns
- Ensure procurement involvement in component lifecycle events. Advise R&D on preferred manufacturers / suppliers
- Own electronics supply chain compliance and traceability.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years in procurement leadership roles
- Successful experience in leading and developing global procurement organizations.
- Experience in electronics, systems / finished goods procurement and understanding of the electrical component supply chain
- Ability to use English and Chinese for advanced negotiations, presentations
- Ability to travel internationally, including but not limited to China, USA, EU, Mexico
- Good business acumen, excellent analytics and presentation skills
- High ethical standards, inherent drive for transparency and stakeholder engagement
Bonus Points if You Have
- Experience in purchasing components for manufacturing use.
- Knowledge of modern procurement tools such as SAP, iValua, Ariba.
- Previous experience with analytics tools like Qlik Sense
