About the Role

We are looking for a new colleague to:

Develop and integrate static and dynamic mechanical designs into our lighting products. Engage in project work as mechanical engineering resource.

As Mechanical Engineer you will be part of our talented team of engineers in our Shenzhen Development Center (SDC) and refer to Professional Solution.

What You Will Do

The job responsibilities as a Senior Mechanical Engineer links into the development of leading products and solutions for automated, intelligent lighting. The mechanics are used in stage lighting, video products, and architectural applications. In the job lies a need for attention to detail, as well as the overview and understanding of the relation between mechanical design and the electronics, optical and software designs – in order to secure that we get outstanding quality in light-output, movement via stepper motors, among other parameters that makes our products outstanding.

This entails:

  • Design/Re-design of the mechanical systems forming the automated, intelligent lighting products both for individual product developments and for sustaining projects. This covers calculation and design of the mechanical product skeletons as well as the exterior shells of the products.
  • Design/Re-design of the motion systems enabling fast, smooth and reliable operation of the automated lighting products both for individual product developments and for sustaining projects. 
  • Verification of mechanical designs covering different stress tests, vibration tests and temperature tests both in-house and external.
  • Act as a role model within discipline; especially for peers, engineers and associate engineers.
  • Participate actively in development project engineering risk assessments and support defining and executing proper technical risk mitigation plans.
  • Provide effort estimates for own work packages to project management within product development projects.
  • Scout for discipline-specific input to technology and platform roadmaps.

What You Need to Be Successful

  • B.Sc. in mechanical engineering and min. 10 years’ experience in development of electro-mechanical products.
  • Experience in Mechanical design and specification. Good understanding of tolerance-critical design.
  • Experience in design and specification of motion systems.
  • English communication, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to actively work as part of a team/project team with local and global team range.
  • Ability to connect the dots between own tasks and project/team deliverables, work proactively and independently, and engage in technical debate with other functions.
  • Good understanding of DFM and DFC.
  • Master skill on 3D modeling through Solidworks.
  • Good understanding of project progressing as checking points and milestone achievements.
  • Good understanding of normal manufacturing methods related to plastic injection, sheet metal processing, machining, die-casting.
  • Ability to handle a variety of projects simultaneously.

Bonus Points if You Have

  • M.Sc. in mechanical engineering and min. 5 years’ experience in development of electro-mechanical products.
  • Ability to work in a quickly changing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of electrical motors and motion control.
  • Ability to use simulation tools as ANSYS or embedded simulation tools in Solidworks.
  • Project management skills.
