Description & Requirements
Introduction: A Career at HARMAN Lifestyle
We’re a global, multi-disciplinary team that’s putting the innovative power of technology to work and transforming tomorrow. As a member of HARMAN Lifestyle, you connect consumers with the power of superior sound.
- Contribute your talents to high-end, esteemed brands like JBL, Mark Levinson and Revel
- Unite your passion for audio innovation with high-tech product development
- Create pitch-perfect, cutting-edge technology that elevates the listening experience
About the Role
As a Staff Product Manager for ecosystems, you will help define and scale the ecosystem experiences that connect Harman products into a unified multi-device platform. This is not a traditional single-product PM role. Your focus is cross-device behaviors, connected experiences, ecosystem interactions, and the future evolution of Harman’s connected audio platform.
You will work closely with engineering, architecture, design, Business Units, and data teams to explore, define, and ship experiences that feel seamless, intelligent, and emotionally meaningful to users.
The ideal candidate combines strong communication skills, technical and architectural thinking, curiosity about connected ecosystems, and the ability to proactively invent new experiences instead of simply executing predefined requirements.
Your Team
You will join the One Platform Team — a fast-moving, multi-disciplinary group shaping Harman’s connected experience ecosystem across Consumer Audio.
The team operates across app experiences, cross-device features, ecosystem strategy, and data intelligence. Unlike traditional product teams tied to a single hardware roadmap, One Platform works horizontally across products and organizations to help define how products work together as one ecosystem.
The ecosystem is still evolving, giving team members significant opportunity to influence direction, invent new experiences, and help shape future platform strategy.
The culture values curiosity, initiative, systems thinking, experimentation, and collaborative problem-solving.
What You Will Do
- Define and evolve connected experiences across mobile apps, speakers, headphones, soundbars, and future connected devices.
- Translate technologies and architectural capabilities into user-facing ecosystem experiences and reusable platform behaviors.
- Proactively invent and propose new connected experience concepts, interaction flows, and ecosystem opportunities.
- Partner closely with engineering, design, architecture, and Business Units to align and ship ecosystem experiences.
- Drive cross-functional communication, alignment, and persuasion across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Explore connected home ecosystems, IoT trends, and emerging interaction models to identify future opportunities for Harman products.
- Define platform requirements, user flows, KPIs, experimentation approaches, and ecosystem behaviors.
- Collaborate with software and architecture teams on technical tradeoffs and system-level thinking.
- Use data and experimentation to refine ecosystem experiences and product direction.
- Use modern AI tools extensively to accelerate research, exploration, documentation, analysis, and product development workflows.
- Help articulate a long-term narrative for Harman’s connected experience ecosystem.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Strong passion for connected experiences, IoT ecosystems, smart devices, and consumer technology.
- Excellent communication and persuasion skills, especially across engineering, product, and business teams.
- Strong systems-thinking and architectural mindset — able to reason across devices, software layers, services, and user journeys.
- Strong curiosity and self-learning ability; comfortable exploring unfamiliar technologies and domains independently.
- Ability to proactively invent, shape, and drive new experience ideas instead of only executing assigned requirements.
- Strong fluency with modern AI tools as part of daily workflow and exploration.
- 3–8 years of experience in product management, ecosystem features, connected devices, companion apps, or cross-device experiences.
- Technical fluency in software systems, connectivity technologies, mobile apps, embedded systems, or cloud-connected products.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and navigate technical tradeoffs.
- Deep interest in how products work together as ecosystems rather than isolated devices.
- A BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, HCI, or related technical disciplines.
Bonus Points if You Have
- Experience with audio products, companion apps, smart home devices, or connected ecosystems.
- Experience with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Matter, casting, multi-device orchestration, or connectivity protocols.
- Experience working across multiple product categories or Business Units.
- Prior technical background in software engineering, architecture, or system design.
- Experience with experimentation frameworks, telemetry, analytics, or growth-oriented product iteration.
- Personal passion for music, audio experiences, home technology, or AI-enabled consumer products.
- Experience building side projects, prototypes, or passion projects related to connected technology.
