About the Role
In this role, you will be at the forefront of driving growth and market adoption of advanced automotive display and projection technologies within the Chinese OEM ecosystem. As the Go-To-Market Manager for China, you will play a critical role in positioning the organization as a strategic technology partner by aligning customer needs with a differentiated Visual Experience (VX) portfolio.
You will be responsible for defining and executing targeted go-to-market strategies for a range of Harman’s Visual Experience solutions including direct view and projection-based display technologies, and other next-generation cockpit display systems. This role focuses exclusively on the China automotive market, requiring deep engagement with leading Chinese OEMs, a strong understanding of their rapid development cycles, and the ability to translate complex technologies into compelling value propositions tailored for China.
As the front-end commercial and technical interface, you will lead pre-sales activities, from early opportunity identification through RFQ shaping and technical solutioning.
Internally, you will collaborate globally across cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment between customer expectations and product roadmaps. You will act as the voice of the customer, feeding insights into product and technology strategy.
This role requires a proactive approach to opportunity creation and pursuit shaping, ensuring high-quality engagements that maximize win rates and profitability. You will evangelize the display portfolio with OEM stakeholders, drive early-stage design wins, and support the development of tailored solutions for Chinese market requirements, including quality, reliability, and long-term partnership expectations.
The ideal candidate is proactive, customer-centric, and skilled in navigating China’s fast-moving NEV and intelligent cockpit landscape.
Presently this position is classified under individual contributor role. This position reports to Visual Experiences Business Lead within Strategic Business Unit - Intelligent Cockpit at HARMAN.
What You Will Do
Go-To-Market Strategy & Business Development
- Define and execute Chinese-OEM focused go-to-market strategies to drive adoption of various display technologies.
- Identify, cultivate, and manage new business opportunities with Chinese OEMs and their ecosystem partners.
- Develop account-specific strategies aligned with Customer Account Management Teams, OEM product roadmaps and vehicle programs.
- Drive early engagement to influence system specifications and platform decisions.
Pre-Sales & Technical Solutioning
- Lead pre-sales activities, including opportunity shaping until they translate into an RFI/RFQ. Provide support during RFQ/RFI, drive technical design reviews and commercial proposals.
- You will work closely with customer engineering teams to understand their system requirements, influence specifications, and position optimized VX-architectures that balance performance, cost, and manufacturability for the China market.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define suitable HMI/ display solutions from Harman’s product portfolio, including:
- Direct view displays (e.g. Neo QLED Series, OLED)
- Projection-based displays (e.g. QVUE, AR HUD)
- Further advanced displays technologies
Long-term customer satisfaction & retention
- Build and maintain long-term, trust-based customer intimacy through technical-commercial discussions with various Chinese OEM departments (Purchase, Engineering, Product Planning, Marketing etc.) ensuring pre-alignment with internal customer account teams.
- Navigate formal communication structures and decision-making processes typical of Chinese automotive customers and find ways influence it.
- Act as a cultural and technical bridge between global internal teams and China-based customers.
Internal Alignment & Voice of Customer
- Collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering, Customer Account Management, and Marketing to ensure product offerings reflect China’s market needs.
- Provide structured, data-driven feedback to influence product roadmap decisions, feature prioritization, and technology investments for China.
- Ensure alignment and high-quality pursuit management across global and local stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary VX liaison for all China-based Customer Group teams.
Supplier Strategy & Ecosystem Understanding
- Develop good understanding of the Chinese automotive supply chain ecosystem to OEMS, including their Tier1/Tier-2 relationships.
- Track competitor moves, ecosystem development, and technology trends across China’s automotive and NEV sectors.
- Provide actionable competitive intelligence to internal teams to identify whitespace opportunities and strengthen value propositions.
What You Need
- University degree preferably in Engineering (electrical, optical or related field).
- 10+ years of automotive industry experience, ideally within an OEM, Tier‑1, or Tier‑2, with substantial exposure to working with Chinese OEMs such as Geely, SAIC, GWM, XPENG, Li Auto, Xiaomi Auto, etc.
- Native Chinese language proficiency and business-level English.
- Proven track record in winning and managing RFQs, leading pre-sales initiatives, and shaping early-stage cockpit or display system opportunities.
- Strong technical understanding of:
- Automotive display technologies (LCD, OLED, MiniLED, AR HUD, projection systems)
- China-specific display performance and quality requirements
- Vehicle integration and cockpit architecture challenges
- Demonstrated ability to articulate complex technologies into clear, compelling narratives and influence multi-level stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen combined with engineering depth in Product Management, Business Development, or Engineering Management.
- High cultural awareness, adaptability, and familiarity with China’s rapid development cycles (“China speed”) and negotiation styles.
- Excellent cross-functional alignment and stakeholder management in global environments.
What Makes You Eligible
- Be willing to travel up to 25%, domestic and international travel.
- Be willing to work in an office in Shanghai, China.
- Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment.

Dependent on the position offered, other forms of compensation are also available, such as bonuses or commission.
Pay is based on a wide range of factors, including, without limitation, skill set, experience, training, location, and business need. While the above range is a reasonable estimate of the wage range for this position, please note the disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographical differential associated with the location where the position may be filled.
