About the Role
Harman Professional is seeking a passionate Mechanical Engineer to join our Professional Loudspeaker Engineering team. You’ll collaborate with the engineers behind JBL’s iconic sound to help develop the next generation of professional loudspeakers.
Based in Shenzhen Development Center (SDC), you’ll play a key role in creating groundbreaking products — from high-performance sub-satellite systems to flagship line arrays and advanced rigging systems. This role is hands-on, working directly with cutting-edge equipment and contributing to designs that set new industry standards.
In this role, you will report to the Engineering Manager.
What You Will Do
- Design and develop complex mechanical systems, components and assemblies for amplifiers, loudspeaker cabinets, suspension components, brackets, fixtures and accessories.
- Collaborate with systems and acoustic engineering teams to define and develop key mechanical assemblies, requirements and specifications
- Collaborate with global engineering teams to integrate internal Harman technology into new products.
- Research design options and perform experiments to determine potential design feasibility or application.
- Construct prototypes, evaluate and document their performance, identify improvements
- Explore new and existing materials and methods to solve design and/or cost challenges
- Create and implement suitable tests to verify designs meet mechanical requirements including applicable international safety regulatory aspects
- Create engineering models, drawings, BOMs, test plans, and technical reports
- Assist in the creation and release of Product Requirements, Design Specifications, and Design Descriptions for assigned designs, applicable standards and procedures. Responsible for recording and sharing technical knowledge gained with colleagues.
- Work closely with ODMs to expand development capabilities and ensure that designs meet Harman guidelines for quality, cost, and performance.
- Co-work with supplier for tooling development, on-site support required when needed
- Collaborate with internal or external factories for DV/PV/MP build, on-site support required when needed
What You Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- 8+ years related engineering experience
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or other CAD tools
- Thorough understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles
- Experience with testing, reliability and qualification of systems
- Hands-on experience with mechanical assemblies utilizing rapid prototyping methods and equipment
- High degree of comfort with ambiguity in early-phase project investigation
- Proficiency in the design and development of plastic components for Injection Molding.
- Familiarity with standard fabrication, welding, and machining practices.
- Is a self-starter, can manage multiple tasks, and work with minimal supervision
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment
Bonus Points if You Have
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Previous experience in Speaker, Amplifier or other acoustic products is desirable
- Structural engineering knowledge for rigging and suspension system design
- Familiar with standard measuring equipment and CMMs.
- Tenacious problem solving & issue resolution skills
- Proficiency with ANSYS, Icepack, Moldflow and other FEA simulation tools is highly preferred

Pay is based on a wide range of factors, including, without limitation, skill set, experience, training, location, and business need.
