About the Role

Global AME Logistic Automation and Digitalization Engineer.

What You Will Do

  • Global Owner for the Technology Development and Standardization of Logistic Technology Innovation.
  • Smart Warehouse Implementation. Drive the development and roll-out of smart warehouse initiatives and Industry 4.0 projects across the organization.
  • Global logistics technology evaluation and benchmarking. Lead the global evaluation and benchmarking of advanced intralogistics technologies – Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), automated warehouse systems (e.g. Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems), and other material storage and handling tools. Identify best-in-class solutions and process improvements across all manufacturing sites.
  • Automation project management. Design, implement, and oversee new logistics automation projects from concept through commissioning and handover. This includes selecting appropriate hardware and software, supporting installation and testing, conducting proof-of-concept trials, and ensuring that automated systems meet performance and safety requirements before full-scale deployment.
  • Support the integration of advanced warehouse automation and digitalization solutions (AMRs, storage, conveyor systems, etc.) with SAP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to enable end-to-end digitalization of material flow.
  • Standards development and deployment. Responsible for the technical global owner for developing and standardizing logistics automation processes, digitalization and material handling standards.
  • Lead the creation of global standards (documented in HARMAN’s Business Management System and Confluence) and provide expert support to related areas, with special emphasis on the integration of automation equipment into existing operations.
  • Collaborate with plant teams worldwide to define and implement these standards in a consistent manner, ensuring each factory adheres to global processes while accommodating local needs and regulations.
  • Ensure that warehouse automation and digital systems are seamlessly connected to corporate IT platforms (e.g. ERP) for real-time inventory tracking, data analytics, and improved decision-making.
  • Coordinate multi-site pilot programs and scale successful solutions globally, working closely with local engineering and operations teams for smooth implementation.
  • Creates manufacturing process simulations to support production concept development for new area connection and material flow.
  • Drives Meta Factory digital twin (material flow/storage virtualization) development activities with external suppliers and internal teams.
  • Cross-functional collaboration. Work closely with cross-functional teams – including Indirect procurement, IT, and Plant Engineering – to align logistics automation and digitalization projects with overall business objectives and technical infrastructure.
  • Act as the connection between manufacturing plants and global IT for integrating warehouse control systems with existing enterprise systems, ensuring robust data flow and cybersecurity.
  • Facilitate communication and best-practice sharing among regional and global teams to foster a unified approach to logistics processes.
  • Training and documentation. Prepare comprehensive documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials for new logistics processes and automation systems.
  • Deliver training and coaching to plant logistics and engineering teams globally on the proper implementation of new tools and standards, building local capabilities for maintaining smart warehouse technologies.
  • Continuous improvement and support. Analyze data to identify bottlenecks or improvement opportunities in material flow and warehouse operations. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and optimization of logistics processes through automation and digital tools, in line with Lean principles and cost-efficiency goals.
  • Participates in Meta Factory project.
  • Ensures compliance with ISO/TS16949 requirements.

What You Need to Be Successful

  • Other activities related to his/her job, as assigned by his/her superior.
  • Work in accordance with the "5S" rules in force within the company at all times.
  • Comply with and/or observe the regulations on health and safety, accident prevention, fire protection, environmental protection, contact protection and ESD.
  • Take part for the Digital Factory use case experiment.
  • Participates in development of Harman Machine standard.
  • Participates in robot simulation integration to process simulation.

Bonus Points if You Have

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automation development.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the warehouse and logistic area.
  • Excellent skills in verbal and written communication in English.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical mindset.
  • Good knowledge of AMRs.
  • Good knowledge of warehouse processes.
  • Familiar with Team Center usage.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Effective cross-region communication skills to coordinate with sites across.
  • High level of flexibility to adjust working hours or methods to support global operations spanning multiple time zones.
  • Basic experience of LEAN.

Dependent on the position offered, other forms of compensation are also available, such as bonuses or commission.

Pay is based on a wide range of factors, including, without limitation, skill set, experience, training, location, and business need. While the above range is a reasonable estimate of the wage range for this position, please note the disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographical differential associated with the location where the position may be filled.
