About the Role

The Director, Automotive Sourcing Strategy is responsible for Automotive Sourcing/procurement activities in support of overall Automotive Strategy and with focus on China and advocate for the Procurement and the Supply Chain Organization into all relevant functions of the HARMAN organization (including Customer Group, Sales, Program Management, SBUs, Engineering, Quality, and Finance) and reports to the Director, Automotive Sourcing. Also responsible for leading and developing China-focused sourcing strategies/initiatives.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and drive automotive sourcing activities across multiple SBUs, including but not limited to own overall BOM/BOL costs in business cases, define cost targets and work with cross-functional teams within procurement (Category, BCA, etc) to support the best initial costs and help win the customer pursuits.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies to support overall Automotive Strategies with an additional focus on China.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, engineering, operations, and finance, to align sourcing strategies with business needs.
  • Drive innovation by identifying emerging technologies and alternative sourcing opportunities in China.
  • Along with category teams, Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers in China, ensuring compliance with quality, cost and sustainability requirements.
  • Analyze global market trends, geopolitical risks, and regulator changes affecting the automotive supply base with an additional focus on China implications.
  • Lead cost down initiatives for pre-SOP programs to achieve business case landed BOM / BOL cost assumptions.
  • Owner for outsourcing Make vs. Buy decision process to deliver the target cost structure and customer requirements while enabling a flexible capacity model for HARMAN manufacturing.
  • Be an advocate for the Supply Chain Organization into all relevant functions of the HARMAN organization. (Engineering, Quality, Program management, Sales and Finance).
  • Support reporting of Automotive Sourcing activities, results, KPIs to internal and external stakeholders.

What You Need to Be Successful

  • Bachelor's / Master degree in business administration, supply chain management, engineering or appropriate graduation.
  • 10+ years of related experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain Management, Program Management and Program Sourcing.
  • Automotive background and strong technical affinity are must haves.
  • Strong understanding of Chinese automotive supply chains, market dynamics, and regulatory requirements.
  • High financial aptitude and strong business acumen.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a global, cross-functional environment and lead strategic initiatives.

  • Must be fluent in English and Mandarin languages.
