About the Role :

We are seeking an adventurous and passionate Industrial Designer with exceptional design skills to join our Shenzhen, China design team. This role focuses on innovating in the audio industry, particularly in the Professional product category, and advancing Harman’s prestigious audio brands. The work of the designer will have a global impact, as the products designed are intended for the global market. With three to five years of experience, the ideal candidate will bring a strong design vision to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

What You Will Do

  • Create next-generation Professional product designs for Harman’s brands, including JBL Professional, AKG, Soundcraft, and BSS, with a global business impact.
  • Develop concept designs in 2D and 3D formats and prototype using in-house or third-party resources.
  • Define product design specifications and CMF (Color, Material, Finish) documentation for manufacturing.
  • Present new designs to the design management and product development teams.
  • Investigate and propose new fit-and-finish options and CMF trends.
  • Work with global teams to develop innovative, trend-defining product concepts and ensure project delivery with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and customer needs.
  • Apply design thinking processes in all phases of concept, strategy, and implementation.

What You Need to Be Successful

  • 3-5 years of industrial design experience with an impressive portfolio.
  • Proven expertise in consumer or professional product design.
  • Solid knowledge of design processes from trend research and strategy to manufacturing execution.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, 3D modeling (Rhinoceros, KeyShot), and photorealistic rendering.
  • Strong knowledge of Materials, Colors, and Finishes (CMF).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Product Design or equivalent.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling methods, and assembly techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve creative problems and bring concepts to life visually and physically.

Bonus Point if you have

  • Familiarity with audio product design.
  • Parametric design skills (Grasshopper scripting).
  • Detail-oriented with a dedication to documentation work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team spirit.
  • Quick learner with self-motivation and the ability to generate multiple concepts for a product.

    Pay is based on a wide range of factors, including, without limitation, skill set, experience, training, location, and business need.
